Working At Night!

I am sure I never told everyone that I actually work in the middle of the night in a gourmet to go and catering shop.  I work in the middle of the night so I can be at home with my little girl who unfortunately is to young to attend public school.    Myself along with 3 1/2 other people are responsible for getting out a lot of meals that serve most of Annapolis,MD and areas outside of Annapolis.  I am actually the supervisor of my mom, two friends and the half person just happens to be my sister (she does not work daily).  Working at night is hard because of lack of sleep but it is also a blast.  The rest of the employees in the bakery and catering departments are not there and we have the run of the place. WooHoo!!! You would be surprised how much fun we have and how much food our little group of ladies can put out.

I think I am most creative at night when I am tired.  That is when we are all trying to go home, but we need just one more item for our showcase.  It could be  chicken, pasta or potatoes and that is when they pass it off to me and I go to work.  Before I know it we have a new item out for sale, and no I did not write it down!
Some days I wonder what the customers are thinking when we are receiving orders for things like asparagus, green beans, or even a tossed salad.  Sometimes I think if I could get all these people together and give them a basic cooking lesson I would be without a job.  Most say its because of the convince of having it already made for them that is the real reason they shop where I work.  I'm glad they do because a steady paycheck is greatly appreciated.  Who knows maybe with this blog I am actually helping some of those customers and cutting into my paycheck.  I will let you know if I start losing money.......
Have a great day!!!!
Mo

  2. I would know, by the wording, that is Jacinta - no doubt about it! It's way late tonight, but Mo made me a slap-dash "cookbook" when I first met her. I have it to this day. She made it "healthy" and hearty as well.
